Allegheny Commons Park Engagements | Rachael + Collin

Rachel & Collin had a beautiful Autumn evening for their Allegheny Commons Park Engagement Session. We were graced with a wonderful combination of perfect fall temps, a quiet city park all to ourselves and soft hazy light which set the tone for some fantastic shots.

We didn’t venture too far around Allegheny Commons Park as there were so many interesting vantage points for shots around Elizabeth Lake, from lake’s walking bridges to its surrounding pathways. When I was planning this shoot, I learned an interesting fact about how Allegheny Commons Park dates all the way back to 1867, making it Pittsburgh’s oldest city park…pretty cool. My favorite element about this park are its walking bridges that crossover the lake. When composing creative shots, they offer up some rather unique vantage points that I really like. I was also relieved this time around to see that the park’s manmade lake was filled up with water. From past experiences, sometimes that can be hit or miss!

I really couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable couple to work with. What I appreciated the most from these two was their trust & openness to try what I had planned in terms of shots. Rachael & Collin came ready & relaxed for photos and were super laid-back & kind to chat with throughout it all. From a photographer’s perspective, having a couple who fully embraces your style & approach to a photo session can make a world of difference in the outcome of the photos; I’m very grateful to them for that.
