Mellon Park Engagements | Maria + Dennis

Dennis & Maria’s Mellon Park engagement session was a nice little test run leading up to the big day that’s quickly approaching, set for The Pittsburgh Aviary this June. Originally we had planned their engagement photos for last fall, but due to schedules & uncooperative weather, we pushed it to the spring. This time around spring time Mellon Park in full bloom turned out to be a worthy raincheck! These two were super easy to photograph and were much more photogenic to shoot than perhaps they felt. Kudos to their chemistry in front of the camera!

In holding out until the very tail end of the sunset, we were rewarded with the perfect golden light for this shot, one of my favorites.

Shadyside Engagement Photography

Mellon Park is one of my favorite city spots for Pittsburgh engagement portraits due to its various gardens, paths, rustic gates & textured walls. I tend to find a new feature or two to use in my portraits every time i’m here. Its also always so alive on weekends with people sprawled out on the grass reading, others walking dogs and of course a handful of other portrait photo shoots happening. For anyone living in Shadyside / E. Liberty area its the perfect outdoor escape when its nice out.mellon park engagement session couple kissing by wall

Maria had a special request of wanting a few detailed ring photographs which in turn gave me the opportunity to scavenger hunt throughout the park for some creative backdrops.

I appreciated our time together, shared around pictures, laughs & chatting and I look forward to picking up where we left off for round II. Dennis & Maria’s wedding in a couple weeks is sure to be a festive celebration, and a wedding where I know the environment will be relaxed and fun – like these two.

Here are some of my favorites from their Mellon Park engagement session.
