Recommended tips for bridal portraits that you’re gonna love!
For me personally, bridal portrait photography is one creative aspect of a wedding day when I truly get the opportunity to capture a bride’s elegance & beauty. Whether your style is dramatic, chic, vintage or classic, my goal is to collaborate with you early in your planning to determining what ideal locations & distinct styles will help you to look remarkable.
When it comes to photographing weddings in the greater Pittsburgh area, I love the wide variety of picture-worthy spots. From outlying rustic country farms to vibrant city parks & streets, I enjoy bringing together the essential elements of lighting & location in such a way that it contrasts perfectly with the individual style of a bride. Every bride has her own unique style in terms of how she envisions her wedding day portraits. I feel it’s important to understand a bride’s vision as well as her personal style when it comes to creating elegant yet comfortable bridal portraits that capture a bride’s true essence.
So what’s your style & vision? Let’s talk about it & collaborate!
I always encourage brides to tell me what they do and don’t like when its comes to picture taking; especially wedding photography they’ve experienced at friend weddings in the past. When I approach photographing your day, I strive to create portraits that are not only timeless & aesthetically beautiful, but ones that also have a genuine quality that fits your personal style.
Makeup & Hair: I typically begin my day of coverage after a bride has arrived back from the salon. If requested I can also come early enough in the day to capture your makeup-makeover which can make for a fun set of candids. In need of a makeup stylist? Feel free to reach out to me, I can recommend a professional with whom I’ve had the pleasure of working with.
Mani-Pedi: If you’re interested in getting hand shots of your rings or open toe wedding shoes shots then I recommend getting pampered and investing in great nails the day before. Putting time into this prep can make these little detail shots of your day really shine!
Styling & Posing: If you come across an awesome wedding magazine shot or even Pinterest wedding inspiration pins, please don’t hesitate to share with me. Collaborating & sharing ideas can surprisingly take a stylised portrait from good to great on your wedding day. www.pinterest.com/mblassey (check out my pins)
Relax & Have Fun: This is the most important tip I can give. The more calm & relaxed you are going into picture taking, the more it’s going to be reflected in your expression. My approach is always to make picture taking stress-free and comfortable. Not sure how to stand, pose or act in photos? Not to worry! I’m an excellent coach when it comes to posing you comfortably through shots and I also do my best in helping you manage time in keeping your day on track! The only things I’ll ask of you is relax and enjoy the moment!
