Pittsburgh National Aviary Weddings | Dennis + Maria
Maria & Dennis hosted their beautiful & festive wedding day at The Pittsburgh National Aviary. Located in Allegheny Commons Park on Pittsburgh’s historic Northside, The Pittsburgh National Aviary is the only independent indoor nonprofit zoo that exclusively features more than 500 birds from more than 150 species (very cool). The aviary’s glass-domed Atrium, open interactive exhibits and outdoor rose garden made for a truly unique Pittsburgh wedding day experience!

Maria & Dennis’s day began at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Pittsburgh’s Strip District. Beautiful afternoon window light set the tone for some vibrant getting ready shots.
For creative portraits, we were lucky enough to get private access into the National Aviary’s wetlands exhibit. Inside, this expansive three-story greenhouse exhibit was so full of life! The wetlands featured a jungle-like atmosphere full of palm trees, lush foliage, and a lively variety of free roaming birds such as flamingos, pelicans, & parrots (the birds had a lot to say). With the climate controlled jungle-like humidity I began to feel we like were doing this photo op in a rainforest 🙂

The looks, gazes, and laughs these two gave each other throughout the day were incredibly genuine to capture…Maria & Dennis were just beaming with so much love & chemistry, so fun to photograph!
The walkthrough exhibits that evening created a fun & free spirited vibe that was truly one of a kind for their guests. Of course, the day also wouldn’t have been complete without getting a newlywed pic with the house penguin.
Maria & Dennis, thank you so very much for including me in your special day. It was a truly unique & wonderful experience. I enjoyed every minute of it!
