Schenley Park Engagements | Rachel + Tim

I had a wonderful time taking pictures of Rachel & Tim for their Schenley Park Engagement Session. When I met up with these two, they immediately put me at ease; both so light-hearted, relaxed and easy to chat with throughout our session. To start, we met up at the park’s visitors center across from Phipps Conservancy and began our trek through the trails winding down to Panther Hollow Lake.

Tim & Rachel share a playful & easy chemistry that’s the perfect mix of love & friendship. What I enjoyed most about these two was the fact that having a camera present didn’t hinder them in any way from just being themselves. Tim wasn’t shy when it came to pulling out any number of silly tricks in getting Rachel to laugh, and it worked like a charm every time I wanted to capture these sorts of fun expressions.

What I just love about Schenley Park is the variety of trails, foliage and scenery for engagement portraits. There’s so many spots throughout this park that tend to make you feel like your trekking through a large rural state park, and its easy to forget that you’re still in the middle of the city.

The lighting & weather combination that evening turned out to be absolutely picture-perfect for our session, especially given the fact that we almost canceled 2 hours prior due to late afternoon showers. When it comes to rain cancellation on photo session days though, I’ve learned my fair share of times to just be patient & hold out until the final hour leading up. Also, when we’re talking about Pittsburgh weather, more often than not cloudy rainy days lead to clear sky sunsets. 

It was a treat working with these two for their Schenley Park Engagement Session. I’m looking forward to plenty of amazing moments to capture soon, as their wedding will be here before you know it!
