Pittsburgh’s Grand Hall at The Priory Weddings | Jim + Katie
Jim & Katie were married at St. Peter Church and hosted their wedding reception at Pittsburgh’s Grand Hall at The Priory. Jim is an old friend from high school, and when he contacted me about photographing his wedding, I was incredibly honored and eager to be part of his special day with Katie. It was wonderful to reconnect with an old friend as well as getting to know Katie, who I could see was a perfect match for Jim. Despite a rainy wedding day, these two embraced their day to the fullest; being present in their moments together while enjoying every minute of their day amongst their closest friends and family.

I began the day at The Priory’s bridal townhouse where Katie prepped amongst a lively group of family, bridesmaids and extremely excited little nieces! Katie little nieces were in total glee once she got into her wedding dress, so cute to photograph.
St. Peter Church Wedding Photography
St. Peter Church is a beautiful church for wedding photography. The historic interior’s marble accents, alter murals, stained glass windows, and vaulted ceiling provided a classic picturesque setting for Jim & Katie’s vows & I do’s.
After a beautiful ceremony, mother nature graced us with the perfect window of rain-free time to capture some creative park portraits (and not a minute longer as raindrops started to fall as we were finishing up). We picked a spot conveniently across the street at Allegheny Commons Park where the fallen leaves amongst the park’s courtyard pathway provided a lovely fall color palette for autumn wedding portraits.

The Priory’s Grand Hall was an elegant & stunning banquet room to host the evening’s festivities. Every time I visit my favorite spot in the Grand Hall to photograph is from the balcony overlooking the dance floor and band stage. The festive moody lighting vibrantly lit the rolling barrel-vaulted ceiling and massive columns in the hall, setting the tone for some dramatically lit wide-angled shots.
One of my favorite elements of the day was Jim & Katie’s pick of a live band, which provided a nice authentic touch to their celebration. It was a nice change of pace from a traditional wedding DJ, and The Grand Hall was the perfect space to have it.
